“When I was younger, I always wanted to be Catwoman. I became Cat Lady. Not the same thing.”
~ a sad personal observation
Hi, I’m Stacey. If you’re reading this page, you probably have no idea who I am. That’s ok. I don’t think I have it figured out myself.

The Author
As a kid I planned to grow up to be a circus performer. I currently work for Corporate America. I don’t know where I went so horribly wrong. Before I discovered things like benefits and a steady income, I dabbled as a stage manager for community theatre and spent some time as a preschool teacher. People told me I didn’t have “transferable job skills,” but really, you’d be surprised.
In March 2010, I married The Captain, an officer in the US Army Reserve. About a month before our wedding we learned that he will deploy to Afghanistan early next year. Despite this fact, he still doesn’t want me to bring home a puppy.

Bella
Although our house is (presently) dog-free, I do have a couple of fur babies. Bella is small, sleek, and exceptionally bright. I swear she understands everything going on around her. Dante is big, funny, and clumsy. But, sadly, he is dumb as a brick. It’s ok. Somehow it makes him more lovable.

Dante
I have my own list of flaws and quirks. For example, I swear. A LOT. I try to keep the curse words to a minimum on my blog, but in real life I can out-cuss a soldier. I am bluntly honest and sometimes forget to think before I speak. I often ruin the ends of movies because, good God, Hollywood is predictable. For some reason people like the Captain find these flaws amusing and, dare I say, endearing. Although by far his favorite quirk is that I’m easily embarrassed by compliments, which make me scrunch my nose and blush.
I’m painfully shy and more or less socially inept, even on the Internet where I’m supposed to be able to hide behind my computer. I have the desire to make connections, but not the courage. I’m trying to change that.
I can be reached at touchedbymadness[at]gmail[dot]com with questions, comments, or kitten photos.
